Georgia Barnes works as a composer and director specialising in theatrical works. She studies Composition and Vocal Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under Edward Jessen, Errollyn Wallen, Deirdre Gribbin and voice under Linda Hirst.  Her work focuses on blending contemporary chaos and classical order. Georgia’s music has been described as exhibiting ‘pockets of richness’ that ‘gains in rhythmic complexity,’ (Stephen Fry).

In 2020, Georgia worked with Tête à Tête opera festival to produce A Time of Empty Tales, one of the first operas to be produced after the pandemic. She was also awarded a place on the British Youth Opera directing scheme and studied under Elaine Kidd and Oliver Mears. She is currently Assistant Directing Ed Jessen’s Syllable with Joseph Alford, working on a Christmas commission for London Mozart Players at Fairfield Halls, and a Christmas Commission for Woldingham School in Westminster Cathedral.

At School, Georgia was a Woodard Musician of the Year finalist for voice, and an organ school. She later went on to win the WSHA Scholarship for higher education. At university, she continued to sing weekly as a choral singer at St Margaret’s Church, Lee Terrace in Blackheath. She has also worked on vocal collaborations with Loré Lixenberg, Alwynne Pritchard and mentored by Linda Hirst. Georgia was also a finalist in the Daryl Runswick Competition.

Georgia also teaches piano and voice, and has previously taught Composition at the Thomas Tallis school in Blackheath.
